In the end of 2025 Dresser Utility Solutions has officially announced the new revisions of the EU Type Examination Certificates under the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) for its Delta and Delta S-Flow rotary gas meters. These updates align the Dresser’s product portfolio of rotary piston meters with the latest requirements of the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and officially extend the suitability of Delta and Delta S-Flow meters for Hydrogen measurement applications up to 100% of volume concentration.

The updated MID revisions cover following:
- The EU Type-examination Certificate DE-17-MI002-PTB001, Revision 3 for rotary gas meter type Delta with maximum operating pressure up to 19,3 bar
- The EU Type-examination Certificate DE-07-MI002-PTB018, Reviison 6 for rotary gas meter type Delta S-Flow with maximum operating pressure up to 101,2 bar /steel body/
With these updates, the portfolio of rotary piston gas meters from Dresser Utility Solutions is fully aligned with the latest MID requirements and is officially certified for hydrogen applications.
For natural gas applications the rotary gas meters retain their existing technical characteristics and markings. And for hydrogen applications following applies:
- Hydrogen admixtures up to 30% (H₂ ≤ 30%):
- Covered by the new MID revision
- Meters can be tested with air and optionally with hydrogen admixtures
- No changes to the nameplate – the minimum flow rate (Qmin) remains the same for natural gas and hydrogen blends
- No changes in the nameplate: Qmin for both applications (natural gas and hydrogen) would be the same
- No extra surcharge considered
- Hydrogen admixtures above 30% and pure hydrogen (H₂ > 30% up to 100%):
- Also covered by the new MID revisions
- Meters can be tested with air and optionally with hydrogen admixtures
- Specific operating conditions apply:
– Including adapted Qmin values for H₂ when teste with air
– Separate marking is mandatory to indicate Qmin H₂
– Individual pure Hydrogen compliance declaration linked to serial number will be issued as standard for each meter - These applications is considered special, treated outside of the standard price list, and pricing are provide on request
All rotary gas meters Delta and Delta S-Flow manufactured and placed on the market from 1 January 2026 will follow the revised MID approvals framework, with all accompanying documents (Declaration of Conformity, Instructions manual, etc.) duly updated.
As an official partner of Dresser Utility Solutions for the Bulgarian market, we at Gasterm remain available for further information, technical support and quotations for high-hydrogen applications more than 30%.
With this update, Dresser Utility Solutions reinforces its commitment to sustainability and to supporting the energy transition by providing certified and reliable solutions for the measurement of both natural gas and hydrogen.
